Antique and one of a kind “Port O’ Boston” hand-painted sign from a Boston waterfront restaurant which operated in the 1940s. The vintage sign is painted on sheet metal cut in the shape of a life ring and surrounded by rope to complete the effect. The classic Art Deco lettering is painted in still vibrant colors of red and blue. The sign itself is mounted as a flange to a beautifully weathered antique oar, which originally would have stood at the entrance to the restaurant. A fantastic piece of local history which would look great in a Boston-area home, office or restaurant – maybe even back in the Seaport District! Approximately 5 feet tall & 3.5 feet wide. Excellent condition, colors still vibrant, slight paint loss to metal life ring sign. For more pleasing and peculiar objects, follow “oldasadam” on.
